The Lancaster Land Trust is celebrating our 24th birthday! It was founded by a group of residents who sat around a living room discussing their concerns about unmanaged growth pressures and environmental threats to the treasures of the Nashua River valley. The group agreed Lancaster would benefit from a Land Trust whose mission would be to preserve a good quality of life in Lancaster “… everything a small New England town should be.”
Seventeen years later we look back with both pride and concern. We are proud of the accomplishments of the Trust, now a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We have directly preserved open space for all to enjoy and have worked with partnering organizations to preserve even more of the rich land of Lancaster. The Trust has contributed to an improved quality of life in town by providing educational, recreational, and community programs.
We provide this website to introduce you to the Lancaster Land Trust and to help acquaint you with some of the wonderful ecological, historical, and cultural resources abundant in Lancaster and the Nashua Valley. You are invited to take part in our events and to visit the public lands listed here. We ‘trust’ you will appreciate Lancaster even more after enjoying them!
Our work is not finished. There is still a need to preserve land and resources and we need your help to accomplish this. We hope you will support our ongoing efforts by joining us, by lending a hand to this all-volunteer organization, or by making a tax-deductible donation.
Thank you for visiting our website and helping us celebrate 24 years!
